We are proud to say that UAC was well represented at the Washington, D.C. area Ukrainian festival held in September! Irina Tishchenko, our beloved former Scholarship Program Director, did a great job speaking at the festival about her experience working with orphans through UAC’s Ukrainian Program. Irina also told the audience all about our Peace Day celebrations with the orphans in Odessa! Two UAC Scholarship students, Ilona Sukhanova and Tatiana Scherbachenko, also happened to be in the U.S. and were able to attend the festival with Irina. Ilona even took the microphone and encouraged the festival-goers to join in the Peace Day celebration! A big “Thank You” goes out to Irina, Ilona, and Tatiana for spreading the word about Peace Day and the important work that UAC does in Ukraine!
Sponsors and potential sponsors– Here’s an insider’s view of the September Scholarship meeting! This meeting was a little bit different than normal because many guests were present, including UAC volunteers and staff from the US, as well as the Scholarship students’ favorite visitor– Clara! UAC’s Peter Panin and Father Sergey Cherba gave the students inspirational talks about the upcoming Peace Day. The teens had the opportunity to share accomplishments, needs, and concerns with Clara, Tatiana (UAC’s legal rep), Father Sergey, and the entire Scholarship Program team! Everyone worked hard to ensure that the students were on the right track for the upcoming school year.
